Hi, I'm not used to blogs. So I'm just going to tell you what's going on for me art wise at the moment. I've recently joined a workshop which explores the relationship between colour ,emotion and the world around us. We use oil paint on paper...but no brushes! It's a challenge to get used to the more abstract and softer mode of blending and moving colour about the primed paper using cloth squares or fingers to rub the paint in. The results can be quite unexpected and really spectacular! Im finding that it's enriching my usual more figurative work. I'm also finding it amazing how emotive certain colours are. For instance I hate using pure purple dioxide...it's a physical effort to put it on the clean white page!!

I've just finished setting up an exhibition at the Better Food Company, Sevier St.,Bristol. The end wall of the cafe there has provided a great exhibition space for local artists over the last year. Just my luck that the fantastic large white wall was bisected by a huge black menu board the day before my exhibition! I went there at 10am on Sunday morning thinking it would be a nice quiet time. Instead I found a hub of activity as eco friendly Bristolian families enjoyed their morning coffee/breakfast. Guess who felt like the floor show as she clambered up and down ladders trying to get paintings straight and getting tangled up in kite cord and fishing line!! But the end result did look okay. So if you're in Bristol come along and see the exhibition while enjoying a great gourmet organic meal!
The Exhibition runs from 25th October to 21st November 2009
